After getting married in June 2010, we went to Malaysia from August to September of that same year. It was our second time in Asia, after going to South Korea. But Malaysia is a very different kind of experience. A very rich country culturally with many ethnic groups. You have the Malays, about 67% of the population, the Chinese who have been present for centuries, about 24%, and then the Indians (Tamil), about 7%. And you also have many ethnic groups, especially in Borneo.
We arrive in the capital city, Kuala Lumpur. A very modern city but that has many night markets and incredible food. It is an experience of all the senses. We start with a very good breakfast consisting of Roti Canai, a sort of crêpe, with different curry sauces. It will become our favorite breakfast there.
After breakfast, we start exploring the city.
Batu Caves
About 30 km from the city, we got visit the very impressive Batu Caves inside a Limestone hill. Those caves have been turned into Hindu shrines dedicated to Lord Murugan.

Kuala Lumpur Bird Park
We really enjoyed going to the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park. It is a great fun activity. There are so many different exotic birds we’ve never seen.
Next stop on our trip are the islands of Langkawi and Penang!
